GREEN GULCH FARM - DAY LONG ASHTANGA Mini-Retreat

​Pure Vision - Ashtanga Yoga & Meditation at Green Gulch Zen Farm 


Using the attitude of pilgrimage we will explore the idea of body as landscape, and through the 3 core practices of Ashtanga Vinyasa (drishti, bandha, and pranayama) we will cultivate postures ripe for insight.

Morning Practice: Essential alignment principles of postures found in the Primary and Secondary Series. Breath practices, core tricks, and drills to safely build a sustainable, invigorating practice.

Afternoon Practice: Techniques for transforming mundane into sacred through pranayama (breathing practices), restorative postures, and meditation. A mixture of deep relaxation and refining principles from the morning. 

Green Gulch Zen Farm is located in a secluded valley just above Muir Beach, a short drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Don't have a car? Don't worry.  The Mindful Body will help coordinate rides.

Using the energy of pilgrimage we will explore the idea of body as landscape and through the 3 dwelling points of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Method (gazing, bandha, and pranayama) we will learn develop poses with strength and ease.

++The Mindful Body November 16th, SF

Mysore is a self-paced, independent practice method conducted in a group setting under the close watch and support of the teacher. This method, and the Ashtanga system in general, is one of the most powerful ways to evolve and transform your yoga practice as a beginner or advanced student. But how to begin? In this afternoon workshop, Matt will discuss the fundamentals of Mysore Style Ashtanga practice, and the practice culture. He will also offer an overview of modern yoga history to help you understand the benefit of Ashtanga and its’ influence on yoga as we practice it in the west. You will even learn the answer to why we practice in the morning! This workshop will be a mixture of practice, lecture, questions, and answer. It is recommended for students of all levels, including those with already established practices.
